Md. Obaidur Rahman, PhD

Dr. Md. Obaidur Rahman is currently working as the Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Gazipur, Bangladesh. He has acted as the Head of the same Department during the period of 28.09.2021 to 27.09.2023. He is also the Former Director of Institute of Information & Communication Technology (IICT) of the same University. Prior to that he joined at DUET as a Lecturer back in 2004 and later worked successfully as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. He received his Ph.D degree in the field of Information and Communication from Kyung Hee University, Republic of Korea in 2012. He has also been awarded a Master degree in Computer Engineering from Kyung Hee University, Republic of Korea in 2008. Moreover, he completed his B.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Information Technology in 2003 from Islamic University of Technology, Gazipur, Bangladesh. His research interests include Medium Access Control of Adhoc Network, Sensor Networks, Body Area Networks, Internet of Things, Cloud & Edge Computing, and Next Generation Networks - IoT, Federated Learning and Reinforcement Learning. He has published a good number of publications including referred IEEE/Springer/Elsevier/MDPI journals and conferences. Dr. Rahman has worked as the General Chair of the 1st ever International Conference named NCIM 2023 organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, DUET. Dr. Rahman is a Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and as a part of IEEE volunteer leadership he has contributed as Vice Chair-Activity (2024), Vice Chair-Technical (2023), Treasurer (2021 & 2022), Professional Activity Coordinator (2019 & 2020) and Conference Coordinator (2018). He has also served as Advisory Committee Member, Technical Program Committee Member, Session Chair, Reviewer and Editor in numerous reputed International and National conferences/workshops and journals. He is also a Member of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
