Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, DUET, Gazipur

Istiaque Ahmed is an Assistant Professor of Architecture (currently on leave) at Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Gazipur. Before joining DUET, he served as a faculty member in several public and private universities in Bangladesh, namely CUET and SUB. Istiaque completed a five-year professional Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree (1st in Merit) from Khulna University, Bangladesh and later obtained an MSc (with Merit) from The Bartlett, University College London (UCL), under the Commonwealth Scholarship scheme. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Architecture at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands. Istiaque has published several research articles (as 1st author) in high-impact journals ranked among the top 10 in the fields of architecture and urban studies (SCImago Journal Rank-SJR). In practice, Istiaque was a member of the study and design team for the Arcadia Education Project by Saif Ul Haque Sthapati (SHS), which received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2019. Istiaque is affiliated with the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB), the Bangladesh Association of Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows (BACSAF), the Bangladesh UK Alumni Network (BUKAN), and the British Council Netherlands.
